REACH (Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals) is a European Union regulation. REACH addresses the production and use of chemical substances, and their potential impacts on both human health and the environment. The regulation places responsibilities for every company in the supply chain.

REACH requires all companies manufacturing or importing chemical substances into the European Union in quantities of one tonne or more per year to register these substances with the European Chemicals Agency. The requirements to document the traits of the substances and safe use for health and environment is thorough and includes toxicological, ecotoxicological, physical and chemical test data. Companies with the same substance must collaborate by sharing data and costs. The Nikkelverk has registered around 30 different substances, including raw material, products and intermediates.
